Post by Newsman »

ImageThe founder of the Chess in Slums Africa, Tunde Onakoya, has begun his second Guinness World Record, GWR, attempt for the longest chess marathon. The Nigerian chess champion started the attempt at Times Square, in New York City on Thursday April 17 2025. Tunde Onakoya aims to play chess games for 70 hours without losing. In a video of the countdown shared on his X by his handler, Onakoya was surrounded by fans cheering him on. This is coming exactly a year after his first attempt. DAILY POST recalls that the Nigerian chess master completed 60-hour chess marathon in April 2024, alongside Shawn Martinez, US chess master. However, the GWR was silent on Onakoya’s feat and announced two men from Norway, Odin Blikra Vea and Askild Bryn as the new record holders after playing for 61 hours, 03 minutes, and 34 seconds.
